The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on Thursday announced the release of the results of the June/July 2025 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) in-school examinations, reporting appreciable improvement in candidates’ performance.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of NABTEB, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, who announced the result in Abuja, said that 89,621 candidates (96.50 per cent) out of 92,875 candidates who registered for the examinations were graded. The examinations were conducted nationwide from June 16 to July 17 in 1,892 centres.
He said this year’s enrolment witnessed a 37.08 per cent increase compared to 67,751 candidates who enrolled in 2024 across 1,708 centres.
He said further that candidates sat for 16 Engineering Trades, seven Construction Trades, nine Miscellaneous Trades, four Business Trades, and 16 General Education subjects.
Speaking on subject performance, Dr. Mohammed said there was a remarkable improvement in Mathematics and English Language. Mathematics recorded a 94.60 per cent success rate, where 81,172 out of 85,805 candidates passed, while 79,575 out of 85,476 candidates (93.10 percent) passed English Language.
“This performance is comparatively better than that of the June/July 2024 NBC/NTC examinations, where 44,000 candidates (65.34 percent) obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics, while 62,235 (92.42 percent) scored five credits and above with or without English and Mathematics,” he said.
The NABTEB boss reiterated the importance of strengthening technical and vocational education to address youth unemployment, urging policymakers to prioritise skills acquisition.
He noted a significant drop in exam malpractice compared to previous years, as 435 candidates were involved in 516 cases of examination misconduct.
Gender analysis of the results showed 57,651 that (62.07 per cent) males and 35,224 (37.93 per cent) females participated in the examinations.
