Entries open for short story anthology to celebrate Chidozie Chukwubuike @50

Entries have opened for an anthology of short stories in honour of Chidozie Chukwubuike at 50.

A publicity flyer announcing the call for entries said friends, colleagues, family, current and former students, fellow writers, and acquaintances of Chidozie Chukwubuike can submit their short stories for the anthology to be titled Encounter.

“Current and former students, colleagues, fellow writers, family, friends and acquaintances of Chidozie Chukwubuike are invited to submit their stories,” the editors said.

They said the short stories, which must not exceed 1,500 words, must be about the writer’s memorable and unique encounter with Chukwubuike.

Chukwubuike, teacher, school administrator, poet, playwright, social activist, and actor, is a former Chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Imo State chapter. He is the author of The Day the Owl Died, The Poet Wept and Other Poems, among other works. Some of his works have appeared in anthologies.

The editors said in order to accommodate more works for the anthology, audio recordings would be accepted. However, writers must make the recording clear enough for the editors to transcribe, they said.

Submissions are ongoing and can be made to ernestfavour15@gmail.com and mariamachidimmadavy@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM on July 12, 2025.
