Hours before the final draw for the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) on Wednesday, the competition’s logo was unveiled even as the tournament has been postponed to August.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the championship’s organisers, announced that the new design “brings a fresh identity and emphasises its deep-rooted connections to African football and culture”.

A key highlight of the unveiling was the introduction of the new CHAN 2024 trophy. It boasts a sleek, modern design featuring a combination of gold and silver elements, symbolizing the prestige and growing stature of the tournament.

A notable feature of the trophy is the 54 distinct lines encircling it, which, according to CAF, “symbolize the 54 African nations united with a map of the continent at its core”. This design underscores the championship’s celebration of diversity and unity across Africa.

“Each line represents the foundation of African football, a pathway carved by our passion and skill, a tribute to our players and our dreams,” CAF explained.

The new trophy serves as a powerful representation of the progress in African football and the shared passion that continues to unite the continent.
