Nigeria and three other African countries will play host to China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, this month.

The visit by Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will begin from Sunday, January 5, and run through January 11, 2025.

The visit, which is part of Wang Yi’s yearly routine, will see him touch Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, said in a statement on Friday.

Ning said the planned visits were based on invitations by the countries.

This will be the 35th consecutive year that the Chinese foreign minister will visit Africa on the first overseas trip at the start of the year, Ning said in the statement.
