The 2027 edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25.
FIFA made the announcement on Tuesday, disclosing that this marks the first time the women’s global championship will be held in South America.
The 32-team tournament will maintain the same slot allocation for confederations as the 2023 edition. Europe’s UEFA will have 11 direct qualifying slots, Asia’s AFC six, Africa’s CAF and North America’s CONCACAF four each, South America’s CONMEBOL three, and Oceania’s OFC one.
An additional three spots will be decided through a 10-team playoff tournament to be played in two phases between November 2026 and February 2027.
Brazil, which secured hosting rights in May, will stage matches across 10 to 12 venues, many of which were previously used during the 2014 Men’s World Cup.
“This historic tournament will have a massive impact not only in South America, but around the whole world,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated.
Meanwhile, FIFA is also expected to announce the hosts of the 2030 and 2034 men’s World Cups on Wednesday.
The 2030 edition is set to be awarded to a six-nation bid spanning three continents, led by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
The 2034 edition is expected to go to Saudi Arabia.
