The stage is set for the 2024 CAF Awards, with just six days to go before Africa’s finest players, coaches, and teams are celebrated in a dazzling ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco.

The prestigious event will take place on Monday, December 16, at the iconic Palais des Congrès, kicking off at 19:00 local time (18:00 GMT, 20:00 Cairo time, and 21:00 East African time).

Football experts from across the continent have cast their votes for top performers in various categories for both men and women, including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Young Player of the Year.

In the highly anticipated Men’s Player of the Year category, the original list of 30 nominees has been trimmed down to five, with the final three set to be revealed this week ahead of the awards night. The category boasts a legacy of legendary winners, such as Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon) and Yaya Toure (Côte d’Ivoire), who each claimed the award a record four times. Other icons include George Weah (Liberia) and Abedi Pele (Ghana), with three wins apiece.

On the women’s side, Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala continues to dominate, holding the record with six Player of the Year wins, two more than her compatriot Perpetua Nkwocha.

The ceremony will also honour the continent’s best clubs, national teams, and coaches. Fans have had their say too, voting for the most spectacular goal of the year, which will be recognized during the event.

The CAF Awards will be attended by football stakeholders from across Africa and beyond, alongside legendary players and the continent’s brightest stars.

With Morocco’s rich footballing tradition and cultural vibrancy, Marrakech provides the perfect setting for this celebration of African football excellence. Packed with entertainment and star power, the ceremony promises to be an unforgettable evening, celebrating a stellar year for African football.
