PrimeTech Design and Engineering Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has upped its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts for the year with the donation of books, study materials, mosquito nets and renovated classrooms to the LEA Primary School, Karmo, Sabo 11, Angauwa Hausawa, FCT Abuja.

PrimeTech spiced up the donations with career talks, encouraging the pupils to study hard so that they can get into whatever career they may choose in future.

The Julius Berger subsidiary said CSR for it refers to the initiatives and practices adopted to positively impact the communities where it operates – or, in simple terms, giving back to the communities.

Julius Berger’s Head of Corporate Communication, James Agama, expressed the company’s joy to be with the pupils and their teachers and thanked the teachers for taking good care of the pupils.

“It is very encouraging to see 23 teachers taking care of this number of children. It means the pupils’ victory is very high, and we are excited to be part of this; and we hope that the children will enjoy a very good and comfortable place to learn,” Agama said.

“We are encouraging you and we are also looking for more opportunities as the opportunities come so that we can work together to make sure the children are always taken care of. We love you from PrimeTech, we love you from Julius Berger, and we hope that some of you will become our engineers very soon, Amen,” he said.

On his part, PrimeTech’s Technical Adviser-MEP, Markus Klotz, congratulated the children on the donations.

Giving the pupils a career talk, the company’s Finance Manager, Mustapha Abubakar, said, “When you think about engineering always, it will boost your morale in your studies and that will also encourage you to read hard. We encourage you to study your books so that you can be responsible citizens of Nigeria.”

He thanked the school authority for granting the company the chance to demonstrate love and show sense of belonging to its community.

An architect with PrimeTech, Oluwateniola Sonuga, in a brief career talk also encouraged the children to study hard to become great architects and engineers in the future.

Responding amidst songs of appreciation to the company, both the Head Teacher of the school, Mr. Jonathan Auta, and his assistant, Mrs Victoria Hassan Jonathan, thanked PrimeTech for the gifts of love to the school.

“On behalf of the entire school, we want to appreciate God for this day, because this day is a great day. We were not expecting things like this. But God has made it. So, we say thank God,” Mrs Jonathan said.

“We also appreciate you people that have taken time out of your busy schedule to come and do something in this school. As you come here, it is our earnest prayer that you will never go back the same. You will go back with full blessings. We appreciate you very much; the children appreciate you. We the teachers also appreciate you,” she said.
